Celebrating 25 Years of Boyer Planning

Halstead, Essex

Boyer Planning has been instructed by Glendale Power to submit a full planning application for an anaerobic digestion plant in Halstead, Essex. The site forms part of an area with outline consent for extension of the existing Bluebridge Industrial Estate.

The proposed new facility will be fuelled by locally sourced food waste, most of which currently ends up in landfill. Energy is generated through the process of anaerobic digestion, producing electricity sufficient to power 2,000 homes. It is also proposed to capture heat for use within the planned ‘zero carbon’ industrial estate expansion area, whilst a further by-product is a soil conditioner that can be used to improve heavy clay soils on local farms.

We have secured formal ‘screening’ confirmation that EIA is not required and are leading a consultant team in the formulation of material required in support of the planning application.
