Celebrating 25 Years of Boyer Planning

Orchard Hill Hospital, Carshalton
Client: Sutton and Merton Primary Care Trust

Boyer Planning acted as planning consultants to Sutton and Merton Primary Care Trust on their proposals to redevelop Orchard Hill Hospital in Carshalton, Surrey. The proposals involved the relocation of existing accommodation for people with learning difficulties and Primary Care Services from a 17ha site in the Green Belt and redevelopment of the site with a new secondary school and 246 houses and flats. The development, which was subject to an environmental impact assessment, was constrained by the visual impact of the proposal on the Green Belt, protected wildlife and woodland and a scheduled ancient monument. The London Borough of Sutton resolved to approve the scheme subject to completion of an s106 agreement in December 2008, followed by referring the applications to the Mayor of London and GOL.
